public article submissions in article site manager
Allowing the public and other webmasters to submit articles for publication on your site is one of the best ways to get new content on a regular basis. It does, however, lead to some common problems, namely spammers and unscrupulous webmasters submitting spam articles and two line 'blurbs' in an attempt to get links. ASM version 3.0 was built to fight these problems in several unique ways.
Bad Words Filter
We have included a comprehensive 'bad words filter' in the Article Site Manager ® administration panel. This filter comes preloaded with large assortment of 'bad words', as well as common derivatives and internet slang (replacing letters with numbers to get around filters). You my also add or delete any of the bad words in the list at any time. When the filter is turned on all articles are scanned for 'bad words' before they are submitted. If any of the words in the list are found within the article an error message is returned to the person submitting the article. Until the bad words are replaced the article can not be submitted.
Minimum Article Word Count
You may also turn on a minimum word count filter within the administration panel and set the minimum amount of words a submitted article can contain. If an article is too short the submitter is shown an error message explaining the article must contain X amount of words. Until the author meets the minimum word count the article can not be submitted.
AJAX Powered Article Formatter - Submission Form
The article submission form on your ASM site is not just a submission form, it's also an article formatter. Powered by AJAX technology this application formats the submitted article, checks for bad words, checks for a minimum word count and then shows the author what their article will look like formatted. They may then submit the article (provided there were no errors returned from the system) or edit it. What makes this application so powerful in the fight against spammers is the fact that it is AJAX powered. Spiders and bots can not activate the application! Just as an added precaution the final article submission is protected by a captcha image verification system.
Once an article is submitted to your ASM site and email is sent to the administrative contact. You may then simply log in to your admin panel, review the article and then approve it, or delete it from the system. Note: No articles go live on your site until you have approved them.
